Eye on Basketball Podcast: Mavericks and Pelicans offseasons
Zach Harper and Matt Moore discuss the offseason for the Mavericks, the offseason for the Pelicans, and the Larry Sanders contract extension.
Matt Moore joins me today to discuss the offseason reports of both the Dallas Mavericks and the New Orleans Pelicans. The Mavericks have had a plan for the last two years in which they'd target Dwight Howard or Chris Paul in free agency and make them the new player as Dirk Nowitzki plays well toward the end of his career. It didn't work out that way but they did manage to sign Samuel Dalembert, Jose Calderon, and Monta Ellis. So was this a failure on their part but it still might keep them in the playoff hunt? Did they address their needs even though they didn't get their man?
Then we jump into the new era of the Pelicans' franchise. They went out and traded for Jrue Holiday, signed Tyreke Evans, and now can throw a myriad of perimeter combinations to support Anthony Davis inside. Are they headed in the right direction? Can their role players step up and fill in for the loss of Robin Lopez? Are we starting to believe this team can make the playoffs?
We discuss all of this, plus Larry Sanders' new contract, following Matt on Twitter, and whetheror not Robocop has days off.
