Eye on Basketball Podcast: Threes, LeBron, and Warriors' offseason
Zach Harper and Matt Moore discuss the future of 3-point shooting in the NBA, LeBron James' impending free agency, and the Warriors' offseason.
I wrote a long post on the evolution of the 3-point shot in the NBA and Matt Moore joins me to discuss the future going forward with how the 3-point shot is utilized and defended. Is it something we can expect to keep growing as teams around the league accept it more and more as a high volume option? Is there any way for defenses to take away that shot consistently under the current rules? Is this increased volume in the 3-point shot something that is good for the health of the NBA?
As we catch up on the Pacific Division offseason reports on the podcast, we look to the Golden State Warriors and the active offseason they had this summer. They had to let go of key reserves like Carl Landry and Jarrett Jack this offseason but it allowed them to bring in Andre Iguodala. Will the additions of Iguodala, Toney Douglas, and Marreese Speights make up for losing bench players that were so big for them? How will the league treat the assignment of covering Stephen Curry? With physicality? With different defensive schemes? What grade do you give them for the offseason?
We discuss all of this, plus LeBron James' impending free agency, how big men can attack better on offense, and look forward to our Los Angeles Lakers' discussion tomorrow.
