Eye on Basketball Podcast: Trade calm before the storm
Zach Harper and Matt Moore talk about the possibilities of the Thunder making a trade, Eric Gordon's trade value and Rajon Rondo's ACL value.
We are a day away from the NBA trade deadline at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday. Matt Moore joins me to discuss all of the current rumors that we feel have some legs or at least seem plausible. We start with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the idea of them possibly moving Toronto's pick, Jeremy Lamb and Kendrick Perkins to the Phoenix Suns for Marcin Gortat. Does this deal make sense for Phoenix if they're rebuilding? Does it actually improve the Thunder's title chances?
We also talk about the Suns and Golden State Warriors potentially looking at Eric Gordon from the New Orleans Hornets. If you're the Suns, you trust your training staff enough to go all-in with Gordon and his contract. If you're the Warriors, do you trust your training staff to keep Gordon on the court? Is Klay Thompson's value going to surpass what Gordon can do? Do Thompson and Stephen Curry work together?
We also discuss the idea of trading Rajon Rondo, even with the ACL injury. How low do you try to go if you're the inquiring trade partner? How high do you go if you have a piece you want to move (Atlanta Hawks)?
We discuss all of this, make references to movies like Gremlins 2 and Varsity Blues and preview Wednesday night's games.
