Grizzlies claim Beno Udrih off waivers
Memphis bolsters point guard depth with former Knick.
UPDATE 2.27.14 12:49 p.m. ET: The Grizzlies officially announced the move.
Grizzlies have claimed Beno Udrih off waivers, I'm told— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) February 26, 2014
Memphis has needed point guard depth since trading Jerryd Bayless to Boston for Courtney Lee. Nick Calathes filled in admirably when Mike Conley suffered an ankle injury, but they needed one more guard, and Udrih fits well.
Udrih can run the offense, knock down a few shots, and won't take a lot of work to fit into Memphis' defensive scheme.
Udrih averaged 5.6 points and 3.6 assists per game with the Knicks in 31 games this season.
The two teammates were still up playing at 4 a.m.
