Grizzlies guard Mike Conley hopes to play in upcoming series

Although Grizzlies guard Mike Conley does not have a definitive return date, he has not ruled out playing in the upcoming playoff series against the Warriors, reports The Commercial Appeal.

"We're hopeful that it'll be sooner than later," Conley said. "It has a lot to do with swelling. [The injuries] were pretty serious to my knowledge. I'm happy to get out of it successfully. My eye was swollen shut two days ago."

Conley recently had two plates and screws installed in his face to repair the fracture near his left eye. He is expected to need 4-6 weeks to heal the injury, but Conley said he expects to be back sooner.

"People's bodies accept things differently," Conley said. "It's day by day so we'll see what happens."
