Jazz rookie Trey Burke breaks finger, out indefinitely
Rookie point guard fractures index finger, out indefinitely. He'll reportedly see a hand specialist Monday.
The Utah Jazz announced Saturday night rookie point guard and ROY favorite Trey Burke sustained a broken right index finger during Utah's preseason loss to the Clippers. He's listed as out indefinitely and will be re-evaluated on Monday.
The Deseret News reports Burke will see a specialist on Monday for further evaluation.
Trey Burke said his fractured right finger index is in a lot of pain. He'll see a hand specialist Monday to determine what needs to be done.— Jody Genessy (@DJJazzyJody) October 13, 2013
Burke was taken ninth in last June's draft and has established himself as the favorite to win Rookie of the Year according to multiple sportsbooks. Worse, the injury is to his shooting hand, so that's obviously going to affect the former Wolverine's shot as well as his handle. The injury certainly doesn't sound good.
The fracture is below Burke's middle knuckle: "It’s really hard to explain where it's at because pretty much my whole finger is hurting."— Jody Genessy (@DJJazzyJody) October 13, 2013
Burke was 1-of-6 for two points with four assists in 14 minutes before the injury.
