Joel Embiid has successful surgery, has two screws inserted into foot
Kansas star and previously projected number one pick Joel Embiid had successful surgery on a fractured navicular bone in his right foot.
Joel Embiid's fractured right foot has thrown huge shockwaves through the NBA Draft process with just a week to go. Previously projected to likely be the top pick in the draft to give the Cleveland Cavaliers a franchise center, there's now great uncertainty with Embiid's draft stock that could have him dropping anywhere from 4 to 7, if not more. At least now, Embiid gets to start healing before he finds out where he'll start his NBA career.
The Cameroonian center who spent a year at Kansas for college had successful surgery on Friday. There were two screws placed into his navicular bone in the fractured right foot and his agent Arn Tellem says he's confident Embiid will return to NBA basketball after appropriate healing.

He's expected to recover in 4-6 months.
The wildcard in this Embiid draft process would be the Philadelphia 76ers. The Bucks aren't expected to take a chance on Embiid with this serious foot fracture now accompanying the previous back concern some people had. Embiid had a fracture in his back during his freshman season at Kansas. But the Sixers, who traded for the draft rights of Nerlens Noel despite a torn ACL, have shown they're willing to wait a year on a prospect as they put themselves in position to rebuild through the draft.
If the Sixers don't select him with the third pick, it's unclear if the Magic at 4 or the Jazz at 5 would be willing to take the risk. The Celtics at 6 or the Lakers at 7 could be the next teams to take a shot on an incredibly talented center with a questionable injury past.
Embiid tweeted out earlier on Friday that he was ready for surgery.
