Kawhi Leonard to skip Hall of Fame ceremony for preseason finale

San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard will be honored by the San Diego State Aztecs later this month but, unlike LaMarcus Aldridge, he won't be missing any game time as a result.

Following Monday's practice session, Leonard made it clear to the media in attendance at San Antonio's practice facility that he wouldn't be skipping the Spurs preseason finale in order to travel back to California for his Hall of Fame induction.

“My goal right now is to get this team better,” Leonard said, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News. “I thank San Diego State for honoring me and I wish those guys luck in the upcoming season. They understand what I’m trying to accomplish.”

The Spurs will square off against the Houston Rockets on Friday night, the same night Kawhi is scheduled to be honored in San Diego.
