Knicks sign Solomon Jones, waive Kurt Thomas
The New York Knicks are making a late roster change before the playoffs start to help with their depth. They're adding 6-10 Solomon Jones while waiving veteran Kurt Thomas, who's out with a foot injury.
The Knicks are making a last-minute roster move before the playoffs start to help bolster their banged-up depth.
The team announced the addition of 28-year-old big man Solomon Jones, most recently with Liaoning of the Chinese Basketball Association. A 6-10 center, Jones averaged 15.8 points and 10.4 rebounds this season in China. He most recently played with the New Orleans Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers in 2011-12.
To make room for Jones, the Knicks has to clear a roster spot. The odd man out is journeyman Kurt Thomas, who is out for the season with a foot injury.
There's a chance the Knicks could have another move in store. There was talk of signing James Singleton. Rasheed Wallace has also been injured with a foot injury and is unlikely to return this season, so the Knicks might make a similar move there.
But is this finally it for 40-year-old Thomas?
Who am I kidding? No chance. He's still probably got a good 10 or 15 years left.
