As the NBA's free agency period started Sunday night, meetings were held, offer sheets prepared and cell phones came to life across the league. And more than ever, social media is playing its role. Shortly after the opening of free agency at 12:01 a.m. ET Monday morning, Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey tweeted the following:

Less than twenty minutes later, Lakers guard Kobe Bryant tweeted something equally emphatic.

Just a little something for Dwight Howard to think about when he checks his phone. And Howard does follow Bryant, so whoever manages Dwight's social media will see it.

It's just an interesting sign of the times that with all the communication out there, the politics of free agency have spread to social media.

Howard met with the Rockets shortly after midnight in the first of his free ageny minutes, according to multiple media outlets.
