Paul George wasn't going to stay with the Pacers much longer. He told them that he planned on leaving during free agency in 2018 and reports are that the Lakers were his preferred destination. While he couldn't convince Indiana to trade him to Los Angeles, he did get his wish and received a trade.

When many players leave they treat it like a business venture and don't say goodbye or post a message. George, however, didn't want to leave without at least giving the Pacers fans something. So he posted a goodbye for them on Instagram.

I can go on and on with pics and comments but INDIANA.. THANK YOU for all that you've been for my family and I! I've met and worked with some of the most unbelievable human beings I think I will ever meet! You all know who you are.. Indy you'll be in great hands with the future! Love you all

George obviously can't make it up to Pacers fans that have to see a superstar leave, but he understands that saying something to them and wishing well for the future cushions the blow at least a little. He can now move on to the next venture in his life while the Pacers themselves move on to a new era of basketball.
