NBA jerseys to feature gold tabs for championships on back of collar
New 2014-2015 jerseys will feature tab to illustrate the team has won a title. But no way to differentiate between different numbers of titles.
On Tuesday, images of new uniforms for next season bearing a mark on the back collar if the team has won a title emerged online. ESPN confirmed those as legit on Wednesday.
It's a cool touch, and adds something, but the fact you get the tab if you've won a title doesn't really separate the teams historically. It would get complicated with the Celtics' 17 titles, as an example, but it would also separate those kinds of teams from, say, the Mavericks who have but one.
Maybe in the future they can figure out a way to mark multiple titles. But these are pretty awesome regardless. It's a nice way to change up the jerseys and reference championship teams.
And if you're curious, the teams who will not have that tab are only the Clippers, Nuggets, Pelicans, Magic, Timberwolves, Grizzlies, Cavaliers, Raptors and Hornets. So that's going to be a little annoying every time a player for one of those teams sees that.
