Nightly Grades: The Knicks and Bulls played 'basketball' and it was bad

Each night, Eye on Basketball brings you what you need to know about the games of the NBA. From great performances to terrible clock management the report card evaluates and eviscerates the good, the bad, and the ugly from the night that was.

A It was an emotional night for Doc Rivers, and he handled everything beautifully in Boston tonight. And his team won against the scrappy Boston Celtics , 96-88.
A They lost by failing to execute in the fourth quarter, but forget that. What a classy display from their fanbase and game ops staff in recognizing Rivers and what he accomplished on that hallowed Celtic bench. Well done, Boston.
A The New Orleans Pelicans are showing some impressive resiliency right now. They're keeping their heads above water and finding wins they probably shouldn't. They hung on against the Detroit Pistons in overtime, 111-106 behind 22 apiece from Ryan Anderson and Jason Smith , with Tyreke Evans chipping in 14. If they can stay somewhere around .500 until Anthony Davis gets back, they're going to be heading to the postseason.
B Ever wanted to know what it looked like for a team to win an NBA game without breathing hard or sweating a drop? That's what the San Antonio Spurs did tonight in Milwaukee, blasting the Milwaukee Bucks 109-77. The only time the game was close was at 0-0, because even at 2-0, it felt like a blowout.
B The Oklahoma City Thunder completed an impressive 2-0 back-to-back in Atlanta and Memphis, following up their blasting of the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. The only reason their 116-100 win over the Memphis Grizzlies doesn't score higher is because Memphis was missing Marc Gasol and Tony Allen . Still, not hard to see what kind of difference Russell Westbrook might've made to that series last postseason (27 points, six rebounds and nine assists for Westbrook in 27 minutes tonight).
C Get down by 19 to the Philadelphia 76ers at home? That's bad. But win the game eventually? That's meh.
D Oh Charlotte Hornets . Why do you have to make things so difficult? You're doing good things, you're 10-11, and then you lose at home to the Orlando Magic , 92-83. Why? Why do you do this? I'm giving you a D just because you're the Bobcats still, and we should be grading you on a curve.
F+ They won. That's why they get the plus. But they almost blew a 23-point lead to the Chicago Bulls -- at home -- and in the meantime, played an ugly, disgusting, disturbing 48 minutes of basketball. But hey, they won. Which at this point, is huge.
F They lost to the New York Knicks . Injuries or not, that's rough.
