Nuggets Ty Lawson (groin) will play in opener against the Kings
Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson has been battling a groin injury that was expected to keep him out of the opener but he will now play.
Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson has been battling a groin injury as he gets ready for the 2013-14 season to tip off. As of two days ago, it was expected to keep him out of the season-opener when the Nuggets travel to Sacramento to take on the Kings. However, with a little more rest it looks like Lawson will be available against the Kings.
Coach Brian Shaw told the media Wednesday that Lawson will play for the Nuggets in their first game of the season, which means he'll be in the starting lineup with Randy Foye, Anthony Randolph, J.J. Hickson, and JaVale McGee like we told you about yesterday.
Good news for the #Nuggets, G Ty Lawson will play tonight vs Kings, coach Brian Shaw said.— Chris Dempsey (@dempseypost) October 30, 2013
Lawson's averages of 16.7 points and 6.9 assists last season were tops last season for a Denver team that won 57 games. While not knowing entirely how he'll fit into Shaw's system before we see it in regular season action, Lawson could be due for an even bigger breakout season than before. He'll have the responsibility of leading this team now that former coach George Karl and teammate Andre Iguodala have departed from the team.
