Mark Jackson has NBA experience from many sides of the game. He's spent time as a player, commentator and coach -- giving him lots of experience in different organizations. He knows what success and failure look like.

On the topic of Knicks executive Phil Jackson, Mark Jackson -- a New Yorker who spent two tours and seven seasons with the Knicks, including winning Rookie of the Year in 1987-88 -- took the opportunity to call the Phil Jackson era a failure.

Phil Jackson and Carmelo Anthony have been publicly feuding with each other for two seasons and many are unhappy with how Jackson has handled matters. The public criticism, veiled comments and generally embarrassing behavior have pushed the already dysfunctional Knicks franchise to a breaking point where one of these two must leave.

Jackson may be the latest person to make similar comments, but his viewpoint unique because he's a former player and coach. Jackson was always a player's coach and if he were seeing his star being treated this way by the organization then it's a safe bet he'd be very unhappy no matter how accomplished that front office was.
