Brian Shaw is one of the more popular candidates in the league these days for a head coaching position, but he has yet to be bride and not the bridesmaid. So to speak. He's on yet another list, though, via the Sports Xchange courtesy of the Chicago Tribune:

Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw will interview to be head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers this weekend.

Shaw was granted permission by the Pacers to meet with Portland. He previously interviewed with Charlotte and is a candidate for the opening in Orlando.

The Blazers are in a weird, nebulous place with their coaching search. Kaleb Canales is still the coach, but they're interviewing other candidates. So he could be the coach. He could not be the coach. He's simultaneously the coach and not the coach of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Shaw might be a good fit, as he's a player's coach and if he were to instill elements of the Triangle from his time with Phil Jackson using LaMarcus Aldridge, Meyers Leonard, and Damian Lillard, the Blazers could really have something going.

We'll have to see if the Blazers go in a different direction or stick with their plan.

Shaw was expected to take over the Lakers' coaching position prior to the hiring of Mike Brown and spent last season with the Pacers.
