PHOTO: Adam Silver's name now appears on the NBA basketball
David Stern's name does not appear on the ball for the NBA for the first time in 30 years.
It's jarring to see, but here it is. The Adam Silver era has begun in earnest and for the first time in 30 years, David Stern's name does not appear on the basketballs of the National Basketball Association.
It's just weird to see it. Silver takes over on Feb. 1 as commissioner. Stern is retiring but plans on remaining in an active role as an embassador for the league. Mark Tatum was brought on as deputy commissioner in an anouncement by the NBA Thursday morning.
Kind of amazing to realize your name is on a ball being played around the globe. Kind of a sign of the power of the office.
