Pistons to interview Suns interim coach Lindsey Hunter
Lindsey Hunter is set to interview with the Pistons, who recently made their head coaching position open by firing Lawrence Frank.
Lindsey Hunter's future in Phoenix is in limbo. He's in that awkward position of being an interim coach in the offseason. And to make things even more awkward, his biggest supporter, Lance Blanks, was recently fired from his general manager position.
So Hunter, wisely, is looking for other work.
“It’s just an interview, like any other,” Hunter said. “They [the Pistons] have a coaching opening, and I was fortunate that they’d consider me. Hopefully, I’ll continue to gain interest from other people.”
Hunter played point guard in the NBA for 17 seasons, 12 of those with the Pistons.
Hunter is still a candidate for the Suns' full-time position as well, but that search has been put on hold while they look for a new general manager.
As interim coach of the Suns, Hunter went 12-29 last season. He replaced Alvin Gentry exactly halfway through.
And Grizzlies coach David Fizdale didn't exactly disagree
