The New York Knicks lost a pretty significant part of their rotation this offseason when Jason Kidd retired from playing and took the coaching job with the Brooklyn Nets. While Kidd wasn't the player we remember from his dominant run around a decade ago, he provided a steady hand at the point and some solid veteran leadership within the flow of the offense. The Knicks re-signed Pablo Prigioni this offseason to back up Raymond Felton, but they still needed another point guard to rely on.
It looks like they may have found that guy and this one can do more scoring than what Kidd gave them, especially in the playoffs. It's being reported that the New York Knicks and Beno Udrih have agreed to a one-year deal to bring in the Slovenian point guard.

Udrih will probably compete for minutes with Prigioni as the primary backup point guard and has a realistic shot of earning that role. This will be Udrih's 10th season in the NBA after starting his career with the San Antonio Spurs, spending a few very solid years with the Sacramento Kings, and then struggling a bit with the Milwaukee Bucks for a year and a half. Last season, he was traded to the Orlando Magic during the year and saw the touch on his long-range jumper return a bit.
His greatest skill is the midrange pull-up jumper in transition. He's one of the best in the league at it, along with finding good jumpers within the flow of running a pick-and-roll. He should fit in nicely with the second unit of the Knicks.
