Miami Heat stars LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade will officially become unrestricted free agents at midnight ET, but don't expect them to agree to new deals immediately. They plan to give Heat president Pat Riley time to assemble a new supporting cast, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

While James is reportedly seeking a max contract, approaching free agency like this has long seemed like the most logical thing for the players and the team. This way, Riley can give options to the Big Three. If you sign for X amount, we can sign Free Agent Y, that kind of thing. Timing is probably the most underrated part of free agency, and if Miami knows its stars are committed to returning, it can structure its signings in a way that makes the most sense for the franchise.

Of course, you can also look at this another way: The pressure is now on Riley not to mess up this whole free-agency thing. He has to recruit the right guys that will make the Heat better and stop James, Bosh and Wade from looking at their other options.
