Report: Nuggets' Ty Lawson arrested on domestic violence charge
Nuggets guard Ty Lawson was arrested Saturday on charges of harassment and criminal mischief, according to reports.
The 25-year-old Lawson was arrested by sheriff's deputies on investigation of domestic violence-related harassment that includes either striking, shoving or kicking as well as a property damage charge, court records state. Both charges are misdemeanors.
A judge issued a mandatory protection order in the case, prohibiting Lawson from contacting the alleged victim.
Lawson was released from jail on $1,000 bond.
Responding to a tweet about Lawson being involved in such an incident, the guard tweeted:
20 day old fish RT @VicLombardi: Ty Lawson does not fit the profile. At all. Something fishy here.— Ty Lawson (@TyLawson3) August 20, 2013
No details about the arrest are known, though the Denver Post reports the Nuggets will have statement ready for release soon.
Lawson averaged 16.7 points, 6.9 assists and 1.5 steals last season and received a four-year, $48 million extension last October.
