Report: Sixers sign Temple star Khalif Wyatt
The Sixers have reportedly signed former Temple Owl star Khalif Wyatt to a multi-year, non-guaranteed deal.
After a stellar summer league performance, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the 76ers have signed Temple star Khalif Wyatt on Friday.
The undrafted rookie free agent out of Temple agreed to terms Thursday night to play for his hometown team. He will sign a partially guaranteed, mutli-year contract on Friday. The guard will be on the team’s roster when it opens the season against the Miami Heat on Oct. 30. But there's a chance Wyatt could spend a portion of this season with the Delaware 87ers, the Sixers NBA Development League affiliate.
Wyatt made a name for himself in last year's NCAA tournament with back-to-back 31-point performances. He followed that up with a strong series of interviews for the draft but was not selected in June. A strong summer leaue performance did lead to talk of him being signed and the Sixers have fallen up on it.
It's a no-lose for them with the team firmly in tank mode, they can take risks on players like Wyatt. Whether he'll be able to translate his game to the next level is a serious question, but there are signshe could be a surprise if given the opportunity this year for Philadelphia.
