Bucks assistant general manager Justin Zanik was supposed to succeed John Hammond after the 2017-18 season in Milwaukee. That plan went out the window, however, when Hammond decided to take the general manager job with the Orlando Magic a couple weeks ago.

Zanik is still in contention for the job, but according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, he has some competition.

Karnisovas, who won two Olympic medals as a member of the Lithuanian national team, has been the assistant general manager with the Nuggets since 2013. He also worked in the NBA office and as an international scout for the Houston Rockets.

Wilcox was relieved of his general manager position in Atlanta and resigned shortly afterward to try to secure a GM position with a new team.

The Bucks are one of the up-and-coming franchises in the NBA, led by the young core of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon. If whoever fills in as their next GM continues to build pieces around their young stars, Milwaukee could be a team to reckon with in a very short time.
