Report: Thunder sign Ryan Gomes to one-year deal
The Thunder are signing veteran forward Ryan Gomes to a one-year deal, according to a report.
The Thunder have been pretty silent in free agency this summer, but they're finally making a splash.
OK, maybe "splash" isn't the right word.
Via Yahoo Sports, the Thunder have reached a one-year agreement with forward Ryan Gomes for the veteran minimum.
What is would appear to mean is that one of the Thunder's three non-guaranteed players will have to be released (Hasheem Thabeet, Daniel Orton or DeAndre Liggins). The Thunder have 15 players under contract already, and are just a couple hundred thousand dollars under the luxury tax threshold.
However, Gomes deal could also be non-guaranteed or even partially guaranteed, meaning this might just be essentially a training camp invite.
Gomes, 30, is a 6-7 small forward that spent last season in Germany and has played seven seasons in the NBA. He last played for the Clippers in 2011-12, appearing in 32 games.
