Report: Trevor Ariza confirms he will opt in for 2013-14 with Wizards
Trevor Ariza confirms to the Washington Post that he will opt in for his $7 million next season with the Wizards.
Not a tough decision for Ariza, who signed the deal before the last CBA and is now looking at a big pay cut based on production and age. The Wizards had something good going when healthy last season, and Ariza can be a part of that while getting paid above market value.
For the Wizards, they'll likely seek to move Ariza and his expiring deal for assets if possible, if not this summer then during the season.
Ariza shot just 41 percent from the field last season, but did shoot 36 percent from 3-point range, making him an essential 3s-and-D guy.
But he'll be a Wizard for another year, or at least to start the season, and make some extra money. Where he'll go next season is another issue.
