Royce White actually played in an NBA game for the Sixers
Royce White made his debut for the Sixers -- in preseason -- playing 10 minutes against the Celtics on Friday.
Without ever appearing in a regular-season game, Royce White's NBA career has been an eventful one.
He appeared in four preseason games for the Rockets last season, but because of issues between him and the organization over his mental health, he wasn't with the team really at all, and barely even played for their D-League affiliate.
But White was traded to the 76ers in the offseason and looking for a fresh start, maybe White has found it. After not playing in Philadelphia's early preseason games overseas -- in fact, not even traveling with the team -- he checked in Friday against the Celtics and played about 10 minutes.
“I was happy to be out there,” White said, via USA Today. “I didn’t think I played well. I’m still not making plays that are routine for me … but it’s just a feel thing, getting a feel back.”
White scored five points with a steal and three rebounds, but picked up five fouls (in 10 minutes!) and turned it over twice. And his four misses were ugly and forced. He looked out of sync completely, which one might expect given the circumstances.
But it's certainly a positive step for White as he tries to find footing in his career. Just being on the court is a good thing for him.
