Tom Thibodeau reiterates Derrick Rose is done for the season
Bulls coach says star point guard will not be returning this season despite report.
A report surfaced from the New York Daily News over the weekend that in vague terms, the Bulls were expecting Derrick Rose to return for the playoffs. On Monday before the Bulls' win over the Pacers, coach Tom Thibodeau shut that down.
From the AP:
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau was asked if there was a chance Rose could return for the playoffs. "No," he said. "He's doing a little bit more, he's coming along (and) doing some things in practice. But he's out for the year."
Maybe Thibs is lying. Maybe he's just saying that and the Bulls are keeping it open. If Rose were to return to full practice and be cleared by doctors and the team were to really need him in a playoff run ... wait. We've been through this.
This is exactly like last year. The one constant throughout this awfu ordeal has been the Bulls being extremely cautious with Rose. They want him around for the rest of a long career. They're not impatient. It's hard to see them breaking this mantra just because the team is playing well in the regular season. It always plays well in the regular season.
