Video: Gregg Popovich jokes that he held Tim Duncan back in his career
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich jokes that Tim Duncan should have been a point guard under Don Nelson.
We all know San Antonio Spurs iconic big man Tim Duncan as the greatest power forward of all time and one of the best big men to ever play this game.
But what if he had played point guard? Could he have surpassed Magic Johnson as the greatest point guard of all time? After watching Duncan orchestrate a fastbreak on Thursday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, Gregg Popovich seems to believe Don Nelson would have been a far better coach for Timmy by using him out of position.
By the way, can we finally just get a Truman Show-esque channel dedicated to following Popovich around in his coaching duties? We should be able to pay access to hear all of the things that he says in practices, film sessions and coaching during games. I'd never change the channel, except for the fine programming on CBS.
