VIDEO: Kenneth Faried suffers ankle sprain, is day-to-day
The Nuggets' Kenneth Faried suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter vs. the Trail Blazers on Sunday.
The Denver Nuggets are not so much with the luck this month. After watching Danilo Gallinari go down with a torn ACL last week, the Nuggets got Ty Lawson back from a foot injury. They were still OK with a good chance of making noise in the playoffs.
That looks really bad. Faried was taken to the locker room in a wheelchair and taken for X-rays, which were negative. He has been officially listed with a sprained ankle and did not return Sunday. He's listed as day-to-day. Initial X-rays are often inconclusive, and there's still the risk of ligament damage. But at least the initial worst-case scenario has been ruled out.
Still, they have to hope Faried can play in Game 1 next weekend. They can survive without Gallinari because of their depth. They cannot survive without Gallinari and Faried.
