In the grand history of Flagrant 2 fouls, J.R. Smith's against the Warriors will be remembered as one of the least severe.

On the play, Smith swiped down with both hands at Harrison Barnes, making contact with his head. It appeared to be unintentional, or at least not intentionally directed to be "excessive and unnecessary."

It's not uncommon for the league to downgrade fouls. J.J. Barea was ejected for a Flagrant 2 on Ray Allen but had the foul downgraded to a Flagrant 1 after review.

The Knicks went on to lose 92-63 Monday night.
