VIDEO: Pierre Jackson breaks NBA D-League scoring record with 58
Rookie lights up NBA D-League with 58 points in win over Texas Legends.
Pelicans rookie Pierre Jackson set an NBA D-League record Tuesday night, scoring 58 points in a win over the Texas Legends. That seems like a lot. Is that a lot? Let's check the video to see if that's a lot.
Yup, that's a lot.
Jackson is in the D-League, but his rights belong to New Orleans. He's not under contract, though, complicating the situation. For a team to call him up, they'd have to acquire his rights from New Orleans. Considering the injury to Jrue Holiday, it would make sense for the Pelicans to bring him up. If nothing else, Tuesday night's showcase illustrates the athleticism he has.
There's a little bit of gunning in the performance, but if you were in the D-League and couldn't get loose you'd likely gun for a record, too.
Jackson broke Morris Almond's previous record set years ago.
He's 100 percent correct on this too
