Scouting Report

Overview

Based on his performance at the 2007 Orlando pre-draft camp, Seibutis caught most NBA personnel by surprise with his unselfish offensive play and toughness attacking the boards.

He showed excellent maturity and team leadership playing with a squad of relative unknowns, bringing the crowd to its feet on more than one occasion with his ability to pull up off the dribble to fire long-range jumpers.

Seibutis began playing for Palangos Naglis in the LKBL league during the 2002-03 season. The following campaign, he was assigned to Sakalai in the LKL, the first Lithuanian league. He went on to average 7.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.

During the 2004-05 regular season, Seibutis increased his playing time from an average of 17.6 to 32.1 minutes per game. He averaged 20.5 points, as he shot a very impressive 74.4 percent from two-point range (67 of 90), 41.7 percent from 3-point range (10 of 24) and 91 percent from the charity stripe (61 of 67 free throws). He also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game, but also averaged three

Personal

fouls and 2.4 turnovers per contest.

Seibutis spent the 2005-06 season playing for Olympiakos, S.F.P.-Pireus (Greece), where he logged 19.2 minutes of action per game, competing in 26 contests. He averaged 8.1 points per game, hitting on 47 of 87 two-point shots and 22 of 45 from 3-point range. He grabbed 62 rebounds (2.0 per game) and had 39 assists, along with 21 steals (wore jersey No. 10), but was charged with 60 fouls and had 32 turnovers.

In 2006-07, Seibutis appeared in 26 games for Maroussi, Athens (Greece), wearing jersey No. 8. He logged 30.2 minutes per game, scoring 350 points (13.5 ppg) on 68 of 117 shooting (58.1 percent) from two-point range while making 50 of 106 3-point shots (47.2 percent). He pulled down 51 rebounds, dished out 39 assists and had 21 steals. He was called for 2.6

fouls per game and had a total of 33 turnovers.

Scouting Report

Positives: Has a lean frame and could add another 20 pounds of bulk, but possesses good arm length and surprising strength for a player that is generally giving up 25-30 pounds to his opponent...Has good ball-handling skills that could see him earn several minutes of action at the point...Very mature for his age and has good leadership qualities on the floor...Times his leap well and shows the body contortion and agility to slip under physical forwards to come down with the key rebound or generate the tip-ins off the offensive boards...Does a nice job of keeping the ball on the floor, pulling up off the dribble and firing the mid-range shots (easily makes them from 15-20 feet out)...His long-range shooting ability forces the defense to guard him constantly when he's stationed on the perimeter, as they have to face up to him, or he will slash to the basket and put the ball in with either hand...Has good court vision and instincts, doing a nice job of working through screens...Uses his reach when generating pressure defense and shows the nimble feet to gain position on the opponent, staying in front of his man in attempts to alter the opponent's shots...Smart, instinctive passer who puts nice zip on his tosses to open teammates when facing double team action...Pulls up nicely in transition to uncork the mid-range jumper and shows the vision to stay on his assignment and use his length to disrupt the opponent's passing lane...Deft shooter behind the arc and knows how to draw contact when driving to the basket...Plays with the maturity and patience of a veteran, as he has no problem moving up and down the court without the ball...Sets his feet well firing off the fade-away shot...Has a nice static jumper from mid-range, but seems most comfortable when charging from behind the arm, elevating and uncorking a jumper...Shows good aggression driving to the basket, demonstrating good right hand strength on the lay-up.

Negatives: Has had success shooting from the European 3-point range (20'6" compared to NBA 23'9"), but needs to improve his consistency to have the same success in the NBA...Lacks the bulk to play on the wing at the next level, but shows enough quickness and agility to play the "two"...Also lacks the length you look for in a small forward and his body might have reached maximum growth potential...Aggressive driving to the basket, but his lack of bulk will see him contained often by the bigger forwards...Has good timed speed up and down the court and while he likes to play pressure defense, he is a little too stiff in his hips to generate fluid lateral movement.

Compares To: LEANDRO BARBOSA, Phoenix. Seibutis is not the ball-handler or speedster that Barbosa is, but he won't embarrass himself if he has to put in time at point guard. He is a scrappy, aggressive defender with a fine mid-range jumper, but even though he likes to crash the boards with the big boys, he lacks the bulk and power to play on the wing in the NBA. He will need time to adjust to the NBA 3-point range, but has the ability to be a consistent shooter along the perimeter.
