Balkman will start Wednesday: The Denver Post reports Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin won't play Wednesday night against Oklahoma City with a left rib cartilage strain, but he could play at the Lakers on Thursday. At the morning shootaround, coach George Karl said: "I think he's going to try do some things today. I don't think he's going on the court, but he's going to do some things to see where the pain is and how much pain he gets. I think he wants to play tomorrow, but I don't think we're going to force the issue." Karl insisted that Martin won't be out for the year. Reserve forward Renaldo Balkman will start for the Nuggets.
