Penguins' Patric Hornqvist: Picking up the pace

Patric Hornqvist picked up a power-play assist and registered five shots on goal Saturday.

He's scored four of his season's eight points in the last six games, a sign that he's emerging from a slump. Hornqvist is also averaging nearly four shots per game during his improved play, with 23 shots in his last six.

Hornqvist missed practice Monday, but took part in Tuesday's morning skate, and will play in Tuesday evening's tilt against Minnesota. He is expected to return to his role skating alongside Sidney Crosby and Pascal Dupuis on the Pittsburgh Penguins ' top line in the contest.

The team hasn't confirmed Hornqvist's availability but it seems like a good bet he'll go against the Wild. The Swede left Saturday's tilt after taking an Evgeni Malkin shot to his abdominal/rib areas.

It's unclear exactly what's ailing him, but it could put his status in doubt for Tuesday's contest. His status should be updated at some point Tuesday to confirm whether or not he will play in the contest against the Wild.

Penguins' Patric Hornqvist: Producing more frequently

Patric Hornqvist netted his fourth goal with 58 seconds remaining in the third period of a 2-1 loss Friday.

He scored a second goal with time running out, but the goal was waved off because of a kicking motion. Hornqvist has struggled for most of 2015-16 but he's scored all four of his goals in the last seven contests.
