Mbah a Moute went for 12 points (4-5 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, four blocks, two steals and one assist across 29 minutes during a 115-105 win over the Hawks on Monday.
This was probably Mbah a Moute's best overall game of the season, as he tallied a season-high four swats, tied his season high with seven rebounds and scored in double figures for the tenth time this season. The bad news is that Blake Griffin (knee) is expected to return to the court Tuesday against the 76ers, likely meaning a little less playing time for Mbah a Moute going forward.
Mbah a Moute posted 13 points (5-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds and a block in 22 minutes Monday during a 109-98 win over the Suns.
Mbah a Moute scored in double-digits for the first time since December 20th, and did so by abusing the weak perimeter defense of Devin Booker. Mbah a Moute repeatedly drove into the body of Booker, and finished effectively with his left hand. The Clippers need Mbah a Moute to stay offensively relevant when he's on the floor or they run the risk of playing 4-vs-5.
Mbah a Moute recorded 14 points (5-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block across 31 minutes in a 119-102 win over the Nuggets on Tuesday.
The Clippers will turn to a committee of forwards to help compensate for some of Blake Griffin's production and minutes during his expected four-to-six week absence following a knee procedure, and Mbah a Moute was one such player who put forth an enhanced stat line Tuesday. Long valued for his tenacity on the defensive end, Mbah a Moute has been quietly efficient offensively too, averaging 6.3 points per game on 50 percent shooting from the field and 41.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc. While Mbah a Moute's scoring average could very well tick upward during Griffin's time on the sideline, it's probably a bit ambitious to routinely expect double-digit point totals out of him. He's still only worth rostering in the deepest of leagues.
Mbah a Moute had missed the Clippers' last two games with the shoulder injury and was initially expected to remain out Sunday, but the veteran forward apparently showcased enough progress in the last 24 hours to convince the team to keep him active. Given that he wasn't sidelined for long, there's a good likelihood that he'll immediately reclaim his usual spot in the starting five at small forward. If that's the case, Austin Rivers would transition back to a bench role and would see a decline in playing time.
Mbah a Moute (shoulder) has been upgraded to questionable for Sunday's game against the Wizards, Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Mbah a Moute had been ruled out for the contest as of Saturday, but after reevaluating the forward Sunday morning, it looks as though the Clippers have changed their tune. He'll likely take part in pregame warmups before a decision is rendered on his status, but if Mbah a Moute is cleared to play, he could immediately take back his spot in the starting five. Austin Rivers would head back to the bench in that scenario and notice a reduction in playing time.
