Thunder's Russell Westbrook: Withdraws name from Olympic consideration
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Westbrook has withdrawn his name from consideration for this year's U.S. Olympic squad, CBS Sports reports.

Westbrook released a statement Friday saying, "After speaking with my family, I have decided to not participate in this year's Olympics. This was not an easy decision, as representing my country at the World Championships in 2010 and the Olympics in 2012 were career highlights for me. I look forward to future opportunities as a member of USA Basketball." With Stephen Curry, John Wall, and Chris Paul also sitting out this summer in addition to Westbrook, Damian Lillard is in line to serve as Team USA's starting point guard during this summer's Olympic competition.

Thunder's Russell Westbrook: Notches 19 points and 13 assists in brutal Game 7 loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Westbrook notched 19 points (7-21 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 13 assists, seven rebounds, and two steals in 45 minutes during Monday's Game 7 loss to the Warriors.

Westbrook did all he could, but his 12th double-double of this postseason could stop a series collapse for OKC. During the Thunder's final three losses, he often forced things as his role players failed to produce -- He shot just 36. 8 percent and turned the ball over 5.0 times per game during that stretch. Still, the explosive guard was a major reason why Oklahoma City even got this far, averaging 26.0 points, 11.0 assists, and 6.9 rebounds during these Playoffs. There will be a lot of questions surrounding the Thunder this summer, but Westbrook will be a major contributor next season regardless.

Thunder's Russell Westbrook: Rebound shy of triple-double in Game 6 loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Westbrook collected 28 points (10-27 FG, 8-10 FT), 11 assists, nine rebounds and four steals over 44 minutes during Saturday's 108-101 loss to the Warriors in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals.

The dynamic point guard was just a board short of his second triple-double of the series, and tallied double-digit assists for the fifth time in the six games against the Warriors. Much like fellow superstar Kevin Durant, Westbrook has struggled to find the net over the last two games in particular, posting sub-40 percent success rates from the field in each of those contests. He also failed to drain at least one three-pointer for the first time since Game 1 versus the Spurs. Westbrook logged more than 40 minutes for the third straight game, and figures to be in for another massive load in the decisive Game 7 showdown Monday.

Thunder's Russell Westbrook: Fills out stat sheet once again in Game 5 loss
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Westbrook tallied 31 points (11-28 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 6-9 FT), eight assists, seven rebounds and five steals during Thursday's 120-111 loss to the Warriors in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals.

The dynamic guard's success rate from the field was south of 40 percent for the third time in the series, but he managed to turn in his typically robust stat line by game's end. After the contest, Westbrook once again seemed to laugh off a suggestion that Stephen Curry's defense has given him some trouble. However, the fact remains that the Thunder's co-leader on offense has shot just 32 percent (8-for-25) and has been guilty of seven turnovers during the series with Curry as a primary defender. Despite some of the difficulties, Westbrook's considerable usage rate keeps his production at an elite level, and he's now reached or eclipsed the 30-point mark in three straight games. He'll look to improve on his already-impressive series averages of 28.0 points, 11.0 assists, 6.6 rebounds and 4.0 steals in Game 6 at home on Saturday night.

Thunder's Russell Westbrook: Records triple-double in Game 4 win over Warriors
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Westbrook went off for 36 points (12-27 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 8-8 FT), 11 rebounds, 11 assists and four steals across 41 minutes during the Thunder's 118-94 win over the Warriors in Tuesday's Game 4.

Westbrook has handed out double-digit assists in five straight contests, and he continues to attack the Warriors on both ends of the floor. This was actually Westbrook's first triple-double of the postseason, but he has managed 12 double-doubles through 15 playoff games. Expect the Thunder guard to remain aggressive in Thursday's Game 5 as the Thunder go for the knockout punch against the defending champs.
