Heat's Wayne Ellington: Agrees to two-year deal with Heat
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ellington agreed to a two-year, $12 million deal with the Miami Heat, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.

Ellington declined his player option with the Nets in late June to cash in a bigger deal this free agency. He was a regular in the rotation, and he can be a three-point threat for the Heat after scoring 7.7 points and grabbing 2.3 rebounds in 23.1 minutes per game last season.

Wayne Ellington: Opts out of player option
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ellington opted to decline his $1.5 million player option for the 2016-17 season and will become an unrestricted free agent, Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times reports.

With the salary cap expected to rise at the start of the new league year, a large amount of players are declining their options in order to see an increase in pay, making Ellington yet another to join that growing free agent pool. In his most recent season with the Nets, Ellington found himself a part of the team's regular guard rotation, seeing 21 minutes per game, while posting averages of 7.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists. While he very well could return to the Nets on an increased salary, Ellington should find plenty of suitors on the open market looking for a veteran guard.

Nets' Wayne Ellington: Scores team-high 21 points Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wayne Ellington provided 21 points (8-12 FG, 5-7 3Pt), one rebound, and one assist across 26 minutes during the Brooklyn Nets ' 113-99 loss to the Hornets on Friday.

Ellington has scored in double figures during three straight games while increasing his points in every appearance this month. He has 11 three-pointers in the last three bouts as well, and has found the touch from beyond the arc here late in the season. During four matchups in April, Ellington is averaging 13.3 points, three three-pointers, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 25 minutes.

Nets' Wayne Ellington: To start Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wayne Ellington will move into the starting lineup Thursday against the Cavaliers, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

The Brooklyn Nets have not announced an official starting lineup, but Sergey Karasev will presumably shift to the bench with Ellington moving into the backcourt at shooting guard. Ellington missed three games prior to Tuesday's win over Orlando due to an illness, but he returned Tuesday to score 12 points in 25 minutes.

Nets' Wayne Ellington: Will move to bench role
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Ellington will move to a bench role in Thursday's game against the Cavaliers, Mike Mazzeo of ESPN.com reports.

Ellington saw only 13 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Hornets, and could only see his court time plunge further while he transitions to the second unit. Coach Tony Brown suggested he wanted to give his younger guards more opportunities over the final couple weeks of the season, and Sergey Karasev will get the first turn in the starting five. Expect the likes of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Sean Kilpatrick, and Markel Brown to also eat into Ellington's playing time down the stretch.
