Favors (back) registered three points (1-1 FG, 1-2 FT), five rebounds and one block over 11 minutes during Thursday's 115-104 loss to the Warriors in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.
Favors continues to battle a sore back, which presumably has played a role in the significant minutes reduction he's seen over the first two games of the current series. The veteran big man was a pivotal factor in the offense during the first half of the first-round series against the Clippers after Rudy Gobert's knee injury, playing between 24 and 38 minutes in the first four games. He also logged 30 minutes in Game 7 versus Los Angeles and logged a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double, but given his current physical condition, he appears limited to a modest bench role at present.
Favors (back) will play in Tuesday's Game 1 matchup against the Warriors, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Favors was questionable for Tuesday's series opener due to a sore back. He figures to be one of the first bigs off the bench heading into the series. He posted 10.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steal across 26.3 minutes in seven games during the first round.
Favors (back) is expected to play in Tuesday's Game 1 against the Warriors, Chris Haynes of ESPN.com reports.
Favors has been dealing with a sore back since the completion of the team's first-round series against the Clippers, but it's improved enough where he's going to give it a go in Game 1 against the Warriors. Look for him to work as one of the first bigs off the bench after averaging 10.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steal across 26.3 minutes in seven games during the first round.
Favors sat out Monday's practice with lower back soreness and is considered questionable for Tuesday's Game 1 against the Warriors, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Favors helped close out the Clippers in the first round of the playoffs over the weekend, posting an impressive 17-point, 11-rebound showing on Sunday. However, it appears he may have tweaked his lower back during the contest, as he's now dealing with some discomfort and was held out of Monday's practice. Another update on his status should be provided following Tuesday's morning shootaround, but an absence from Favors would be a huge blow to the team's depth in the frontcourt.
Favors finished with 17 points (8-11 FG, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 30 minutes during Sunday's 104-91 win over the Clippers in Game 7.
Favors ended up fouling out along with Rudy Gobert, who was limited to 13 minutes. Still, Favors was fantastic and efficient on both ends, and he saw three more minutes in Game 7 than he did in the last two tilts combined. It's unlikely that the Jazz will attempt to play lineups featuring both Favors and Gobert against the Warriors, especially since it didn't happen for a single minute of this first round series. As a result, it's unclear what can be expected from Favors on a nightly basis.
