Harkless was making his second straight start in place of the injured Evan Turner (hand), who is expected to be sidelined until mid-to-late March. The 23-year-old struggled to provide much of an impact in Friday's loss to the Celtics, but was much better Monday, turning in one of his better all-around performances of the last two-plus months. Harkless was a quality complementary producer in a starting role earlier this season before his fantasy value began to hit the skids due to his declining three-point shooting, so if he can continue to regain some of the long-range accuracy he displayed back in November and December, he could make for a quality pickup in mid-sized or deeper leagues, especially with Turner out for multiple weeks.
Harkless has already started 42 games at small forward this season, but has been coming off the bench as of late after being replaced by Evan Turner in the starting lineup. Turner, however, suffered a fracture in his right hand Tuesday and is set to be out for five-to-six weeks. As such, Harkless, who is averaging 10.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game this season, will look to compensate for as much of Turner's nightly production as possible at the three position.
Harkless tallied eight points (2-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-6 FT), seven rebounds and one block in 22 minutes during Tuesday's 114-113 win over the Mavericks.
Harkless came off the bench for just the seventh time this season since getting replaced in the starting lineup by Evan Turner. The 23-year-old is averaging career highs across the board, highlighted by 10.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. With Turner suffering from a fractured hand, Harkless will likely regain his spot in the starting lineup.
Harkless (calf) put up 10 points (5-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and two steals over 21 minutes in Sunday's 113-111 loss to the Warriors.
Harkless returned from a two-game absence to lead the Blazers' second unit in scoring and tally his first double-digit point total since Jan. 11 in the process. The fifth-year forward typically displays some offensive inconsistencies, but remains capable of making up for some of the shortfall with solid numbers in the rebounding category in particular. Sunday's shooting tally was encouraging overall, as Harkless had posted a 22.7 percent success rate (5-for-22) from the floor over the previous five contests he'd been active for.
Harkless (calf) will play in Sunday's tilt against the Warriors, Kevin Pelton of ESPN reports.
After missing the Trail Blazers' last two outings with a strained left calf, Harkless has been cleared to play against the Warriors. Harkless hasn't been providing much fantasy value in the month of January, averaging just 7.1 points on 42.2 percent shooting and 3.6 rebounds across 25.9 minutes per game.
