Cory Jefferson 's 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns recently expired, making him a free agent.
The Suns replaced Jefferson's spot on the roster with Orlando Johnson, who inked a 10-day contract with the club on Feb. 5. Jefferson has appeared in just eight games with the Suns over two different stints with the team this season, posting averages of 2.8 points and two rebounds in 6.3 minutes.
Cory Jefferson signed a 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.
The Suns had an open spot available on their roster and have three forwards (Markieff Morris, Jon Leuer, and Mirza Teletovic) dealing with injuries, so it makes sense for them to bring Jefferson in as emergency depth. The 25-year-old previously appeared in six games with the Suns and averaged two points and 1.7 boards over 4.7 minutes per contest before he was waived two weeks ago.
Cory Jefferson has been waived by the Suns, Shams Charania of Yahoo reports.
Jefferson has played in just one game for only eight minutes in the past two weeks and has appeared just six times for the Suns all year, scoring 2.0 points per game. Jefferson averaged 12.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per 36 minutes in 50 games for the Nets last season and could continue to intrigue NBA teams because of his size (listed at 6-9, 218 pounds).
Cory Jefferson (coach's decision) didn't take the court in Sunday's loss to the Bucks.
Jefferson has played in just five of the Phoenix Suns ' 29 games this season, and is averaging just four minutes across those appearances. He could be due for a stint in the D-League at some point.
Cory Jefferson (coach's decision) didn't receive any minutes in Monday's 120-101 over the Lakers.
Jefferson continues to not be a part of the mix for the Phoenix Suns early on this season, and has actually only appeared in one blowout game for five minutes. He's currently slotted behind Markieff Morris, Mirza Teletovic, and Jon Leuer on the depth chart.
