Spurs' Tony Parker: Facing eight-plus month recovery
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Parker underwent surgery on his left quadriceps Friday and may require at least eight months to recover fully, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.

The timeline is merely an estimate by Dr. Josh Bell, a San Antonio-area orthopedist. "If four to six months, you can usually return to some activity," said Bell. "But that's not basketball." With 16 seasons under his belt, Parker will likely follow a prudent approach during his rehabilitation, which seems as if it'll extend into the first two months of the 2017-18 campaign and potentially beyond. As the Spurs continue their playoff push in the Western Conference semifinals against the Rockets, coach Greg Popovich gave rookie Dejounte Murray the first start in Parker's absence Friday, but Patty Mills is the prime candidate to pick up most of the run at point guard.

Spurs' Tony Parker: Will miss rest of postseason with ruptured quad
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Parker's MRI on Thursday revealed he has a ruptured left quadriceps tendon and will miss the remainder of the playoffs.

This was the expectation prior to the official results on the MRI, so the Spurs will now have to attempt to make it back to the NBA Finals without their starting point guard. On top of missing the postseason, Parker remains without a timetable for his return, so it's unclear at this time how long the injury will keep him out beyond the end of the season. In his absence, look for Patty Mills to take his place as the starter and play a heavy dosage of minutes, with rookie Dejounte Murray likely entering the rotation to serve as his backup.

Spurs' Tony Parker: Expected to miss rest of playoffs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Parker (leg) is expected to have season-ending surgery and miss the remainder of the playoffs, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.

While nothing is confirmed, as Parker is still undergoing an MRI on his left leg he injured in the fourth quarter of Game 2, the team is expecting the worst for their longtime starting point guard. San Antonio will likely have an official announcement following the conclusion of Parker's MRI, but with Parker's season likely done, Patty Mills would be in line to start at point guard and see a heavy dosage of minutes there for the remainder of the postseason, with rookie Dejounte Murray likely entering the rotation and serving as Mills' backup.

Spurs' Tony Parker: MRI on tap Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Spurs officially labeled Parker's injury left leg and he will undergo an MRI exam Thursday, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Parker couldn't leave the court under his own power, suggesting the issue may be serious in nature. The club should update his status again following the examination, leaving his status murky until then. Should the issue cost him extended time, Patty Mills and Kawhi Leonard would likely spend more time handling the ball. Considering Parker's age, a serious knee injury could spell the end to his lengthy career.

Spurs' Tony Parker: Carried off with apparent knee injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Parker required assistance off the floor after suffering a left knee injury in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's Game 2 against the Rockets, Paul Garcia of Project Spurs reports.

Parker couldn't put weight on his left knee after falling to the floor in what appeared to be a non-contact injury early in the fourth quarter. The veteran point guard had been in the midst of a brilliant outing, during which he compiled 18 points (8-13 FG, 2-2 3PT), four assists, three rebounds and one steal in 26 minutes prior to his departure. It appears the injury could be fairly significant, so Parker shouldn't be expected to return to Game 2, and his availability for the rest of the series could also be in peril. Expect the Spurs to provide an official update on the extent of his injury along with a projected return timetable prior to Friday's Game 3. Patty Mills and Dejounte Murray would be thrust into larger roles should Parker's injury force him to miss additional time beyond Game 2.
