Randolph going to Memphis Grizzlies: The Los Angeles Times reports that the Clippers and Grizzlies agreed to a deal that will send Zach Randolph to Memphis in exchange for Quentin Richardson. Because of salary cap rules, the deal can't be completed until next week.

Fantasy Analysis

Randolph averaged 20.9 points a game in his short stint with the Clippers, but the team needed to clear up some of the logjam they had among their big men so that they could slot in No. 1 overall pick Blake Griffin into their mix. Randolph will play power forward in Memphis alongside Marc Gasol and Hasheem Thabeet at the center spot. He will retain center eligibility in leagues that allow multiple eligibility after having started 14 games there last season while with the Knicks. That will make him a top center option where eligible. Among forwards, he should be considered a solid No. 1 option as well.

F Zach Randolph is just about ready to be traded from the Clippers for G/F Quentin Richardson, who the Grizzlies got in a draft night trade from the Knicks for C Darko Milicic. League rules didn't permit the trade to be consummated on draft night, so the parties had to wait for the salary cap numbers for 2009-10 to come into play. Randolph, meanwhile, is owed more than $33 million over the next two seasons. He'll make $16 million for the 2009-10 campaign and $17.3 the following season. He averaged 21 points and 9.4 rebounds for the Clippers. The eight-year veteran has averaged 18 or more points and at least eight rebounds in each of the past six seasons. He has had character issues but his agent Raymond Brothers said Randolph is hyped about the deal. "(Griz general manager) Chris Wallace has put together quite a team there. Zach is exactly what they need," Brothers said. "He wants to win. He wants to help them win. He's very excited about this trade. It's a great opportunity for Memphis as well as for Zach." 79//2009
