Jason Pominville dished out a pair of assists in Friday's Game 5 overtime win over the Stars.
Pominville is heating up for the Minnesota Wild , who held on to force a Game 6 back in Minnesota. The veteran is riding a three-game point streak, compiling three goals and six points in that span. With 20 goals in 75 career playoff games, Pominville has shown he can produce when the pressure is on. He'll need another big outing in Game 6 if the Wild hope to take this series to seven games.
Jason Pominville busted out in a big way Monday, potting two goals and adding an assist in a 5-3 win over Dallas in Game 3.
The goals snap a 13-game drought for the 33-year-old, who received 15:34 of ice time in this one after receiving 13:45 and 12:21 in the first two games of the series. It's no secret by now how much of a disappointment Pominville was this year (11 goals, 36 points in 75 games), but the playoffs give players a fresh start and the Minnesota Wild need him more than ever with star winger Zach Parise (back) without a return timetable.
Pominville returns to action after missing seven contests. The veteran has definitely seen a drop off in productivity this season, as he's tallied just 33 points in 67 games. His contributions on the power play do increase the winger's value, however. Pominville has averaged 2:33 of power-play ice time this year, with three goals and seven helpers to show for it.
Jason Pominville (lower body) emerged from Wednesday's practice feeling good, and will see how he feels at morning practice Wednesday before a decision on his status for the evening's game is made.
Pominville has been nearing a return of late, and his solid practice Wednesday puts him in a decent position to rejoin the lineup for Thursday's contest, but his body will need to respond positively overnight. The St. Paul Pioneer Press's Chad Graff speculates that he would be on the team's third line alongside Nino Niederreiter and Erik Haula, but expect another update on his status and the potential lines come game day.
Jason Pominville (lower body) will not be available for Tuesday's matchup with the Kings, but is progressing well.
Pominville skated with his teammates on Tuesday and coach John Torchetti did not rule out the possibility the 33-year-old could suit up Thursday. The winger was stuck in a three-game scoring drought prior to his injury, but did tally 12 points in the 10 contests before the drought began. That type of inconsistency makes the veteran a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option.
