Pominville contributed a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Capitals.
Pominville's line with Martin Hanzal and Nino Niederreiter combined for two goals and five points, which looks nice until it's compared to the five goals and nine points generated by Washington's top trio of Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie. Still, this can only be viewed as a step in the right direction considering Pominville had potted just one goal in his previous 19 appearances. While Minnesota's third line is more skillful than most, the 34-year-old winger's 13:00 of ice time is a reminder of the limited opportunities that come with such a role.
Pominville notched an assist and three shots on goal in 13:13 of ice time in Tuesday's win over San Jose.
Pominville was a healthy scratch in Sunday's game. It looks like the time off got him back on track, but he still has just four points in nine games in March.
After scoring 22 points in 24 games from Jan. 7 through the All-Star break, Pominville has just three points in eight games in March. He'll likely return to the lineup the next game as the Wild are trying any line combinations to break out of a March swoon.
Pominville collected a goal, an assist and four shots on net during Friday's win over Florida.
After a slow start, Pominville has turned it on to the tune of six goals, 27 points and 67 shots through his past 26 games. Obviously, a few more tallies would be nice, but the 34-year-old veteran also was sitting on the majority of waiver wires before the offensive binge. You'll want to keep expectations in check down the stretch, but Pominville has room for negative offensive regression without losing his fantasy relevance.
Pominville (illness) will return to the lineup for Sunday's game against the Sharks, Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports.
Pominville returns to the lineup after a three-game absence and will look to build on the rampant success he enjoyed before getting sick. The 34-year-old played 10 games in the month of February and recorded 12 points while averaging just 15:05 of playing time during that span. Considering how little he plays, Pominville provides excellent fantasy value, especially considering he sometimes draws time on the power play.
