There's been chatter around the hockey world that Pominville will see a reduction in ice time under new bench boss Bruce Boudreau, and that's been the case in the early going, with the Quebec native topping out at 15:48 through the first three games. However, if the 33-year-old can continue to play like he did Tuesday, it wouldn't be surprising to see the prolific bench boss tinker with the lines in Pominville's favor. For the time being, he's parked on the third line with Erik Haula at center and Nino Niederreiter on the opposite wing.
Pominville may continue to see his role and ice time slip under new head coach Bruce Boudreau. However, he'll still get significant power-play ice time as he's averaging 2:23 through two games.
Jason Pominville dished out a pair of assists in Friday's Game 5 overtime win over the Stars.
Pominville is heating up for the Minnesota Wild , who held on to force a Game 6 back in Minnesota. The veteran is riding a three-game point streak, compiling three goals and six points in that span. With 20 goals in 75 career playoff games, Pominville has shown he can produce when the pressure is on. He'll need another big outing in Game 6 if the Wild hope to take this series to seven games.
Jason Pominville busted out in a big way Monday, potting two goals and adding an assist in a 5-3 win over Dallas in Game 3.
The goals snap a 13-game drought for the 33-year-old, who received 15:34 of ice time in this one after receiving 13:45 and 12:21 in the first two games of the series. It's no secret by now how much of a disappointment Pominville was this year (11 goals, 36 points in 75 games), but the playoffs give players a fresh start and the Minnesota Wild need him more than ever with star winger Zach Parise (back) without a return timetable.
Pominville returns to action after missing seven contests. The veteran has definitely seen a drop off in productivity this season, as he's tallied just 33 points in 67 games. His contributions on the power play do increase the winger's value, however. Pominville has averaged 2:33 of power-play ice time this year, with three goals and seven helpers to show for it.
