Ducks' Antoine Vermette: Remains pointless to start season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vermette failed to find the scoresheet during Monday's loss to the Devils.

The 34-year-old pivot is coming off two consecutive 38-point campaigns and has started this season in a top-six role and on the second power-play unit, so he has been in a position to succeed. However, Anaheim has played four road games to start the year and sit with a 29th-ranked 1.75 goals per game, as the entire team has struggled to generate offense. His best offensive years are almost certainly behind him, and after padding the point column with a career-high 17 power-play tallies last season, Vermette could be facing an uphill battle to match his 2015-16 numbers.

Ducks' Antoine Vermette: Inks deal with Ducks
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vermette signed a two-year deal with the Ducks on Monday.

Vermette was bought out of his contract with Arizona earlier in the offseason, but has secured a new home in Anaheim. Despite being 34 years old, the center still pit together a solid 2015-16 campaign as he notched 17 goals and 21 helpers. The Quebec native stands a good chance of being a member of the Ducks power play considering he averaged almost three minutes of ice time per game with the man advantage with the Yotes while tallying 16 points. Vermette's production may start to drop off, but he could add some significant late-round value in deeper drafts.

Antoine Vermette: Drawing interest on open market
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Vermette has contract offers from five NHL teams with a decision to be made Monday, agent Allan Walsh reports.

Vermette had his contract bought out by the Coyotes earlier this month in an effort to save the club $2.5 million in the upcoming season -- that made him an unrestricted free agent. Given that he's a proven offensive contributor who's won a Stanley Cup, having done so with the Blackhawks in 2015, it's no surprise that Vermette is getting bites on the open market. It's not clear which teams are lobbying for the veteran, but it sounds like that announcement is imminent.

Coyotes' Antoine Vermette: Placed on waivers for purpose of buyout
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Vermette has been unconditionally waived by the Coyotes on Monday and bought out of his contract, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Under the terms of the buyout, Vermette will be owed $1.25 million this year and next, which saves Arizona $2.5 million in cap space for 2016-17. The 34-year-old had solid production last season, as he tallied 17 goals and 21 helpers in the desert. It would appear the organization has concerns over his age and want to get out from under his contract, despite his decent numbers. Given his value, it is certainly possible somebody will pick him up before the start of the upcoming campaign.

Coyotes' Antoine Vermette: Opens up scoring in first period
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Vermette lit the lamp on his only shot in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Predators.

Vermette has found twine in two of the last three after going scoreless in eight straight. The 33-year-old doesn't take many shots, but he's been decently efficient with them, scoring at slightly over a 13 percent clip. The first-line center's real threat remains on the power play, where he's notched 16 of his 38 points this year.
