Boozer to return to Utah Jazz: The Jazz announced Tuesday that Carlos Boozer will exercise his player option for 2009-10 and will be returning for his sixth season with the organization. "We are excited that Carlos has decided to remain with the Jazz," said Utah Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor. "We are hopeful he can continue to play at an All-Star level and will have an injury-free season."

Fantasy Analysis

Boozer appeared in just 37 games for the Jazz in 2008-09 due to injury, averaging 16.2 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 32 minutes per game. The seven-year NBA veteran had 20 double-doubles and 15 games of 20 or more points, leading the Jazz to the team's third straight playoff appearance. He can still be a force when healthy and has the ability to post a 20-and-10 season with the Jazz this fall. He'll be worth drafting in the early rounds as a No. 1 forward again.

F Carlos Boozer's opt-out decision continues to be much awaited. Boozer has until June 30 to decide about becoming a free agent. Although he is expected to do so, many questions remain about whether Detroit has both the salary-cap space and interest to sign Boozer to a mega-money contract. Boozer has played in barely two-thirds of the Jazz's games the last five seasons as a result of injuries. 62/6/2009

Boozer is staying with the Jazz next season after deciding not to opt out of the final year of his contract. He is scheduled to make $12.7 million next season.

Boozer has averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds since Utah signed him away from the Cleveland Cavaliers as a restricted free agent five years ago, but has only played in 276 of a possible 410 games with the Jazz. He was limited to 37 games last season, due largely to an injury that required surgery on his left knee in January.
