  • Injuries weighed heavily on Nene: Wizards center Nene said he agonized over a persistent foot injury so much this season that he considered retirement, the Washington Post reports. Nene managed just 61 games this season due to a painful bout of plantar fasciitis in his left foot that never fully healed and a sore right knee. "How tough? Tough enough to think about the end of my career? Yeah, that’s how tough it was," he said Sunday. "It was so hard to play the way I did it. I thought to end my career because it’s so painful, my body can’t support. I’m glad I finished the season, but the way I suffer, I hope, never again."

    Fantasy Analysis
    Nene ruled himself out for the Wizards' final two games of the season and hopes rest during the offseason will help him stay healthy next year. "To play through pain, that’s not necessary," the 30-year-old Nene said. "Let the young guys play. They need the work." During his first full season with Washington, Nene averaged 12.6 points per game -- his lowest mark since the 2006-07 season (minimum 20 games). Fantasy owners should follow his recovery during the offseason as his draft stock could tumble if he's not 100 percent.
