Bouwmeester tallied a goal and went plus-2 in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Sharks.The goal was the aging blueliner's second of the season, with the other coming all the way back on Nov. 3. After tallying 37 points in 2013-14, Bouwmeester's puck-moving abilities have really diminished this season. He's mustered all of six points in 33 games this season, with his even-strength and power-play ice time dropping off by about a full minute from last year in accordance.

Bouwmeester (groin) attempted no shots and finished with a minus-3 rating over his 20:59 of ice time in his return to action Thursday against the Islanders.Bouwmeester didn't have his finest outing in his return from an eight-game absence, but the Blues appear happy to have him back on their top defensive pairing with Alex Pietrangelo. Though he's healthy, there's no guarantee Bouwmeester will reemerge as a productive fantasy defenseman, as he's produced just two points in 21 games this season.

Bouwmeester (groin) rejoined the Blues for practice Wednesday, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.Bouwmeester manned his usual spot on the top pairing next to Alex Pietrangelo, suggesting that he could be in line for a return to the lineup Thursday versus the Islanders. The blueliner previously appeared close to a return last week before enduring a setback, however, so until he's formally activated from injured reserve, it will be difficult to reliably count him in for Thursday's game.

Coach Ken Hitchcock said he hopes to have Bouwmeester (groin) at practice Wednesday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.Bouwmeester was able to skate on his own prior to Monday's optional session, but he still seems like a long shot to return from an eight-game absence Thursday versus the Islanders. He'll probably need to practice with the team for back-to-back days before Hitchcock feels comfortable using him in games.
