Roundup: Wallace, Herrmann lift Bobcats over Bucks

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Gerald Wallace scored 24 points and Walter Herrmann had a career-high 21 to lead the Charlotte over Milwaukee 97-81 on Friday night, the Bobcats' first victory over the Bucks in 10 meetings.

Emeka Okafor added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Bobcats, who pulled away in the third quarter for their second straight win by dominating the inside against the injury-plagued Bucks.

Herrmann, the 6-foot-9 Argentine, continued his recent hot streak after being nearly invisible for most of the season. Herrmann, who didn't even play in 34 of Charlotte's first 64 games, hit 10 of 14 shots, and added nine rebounds, scoring 15 or more points for the seventh time in nine games.

Most of Herrmann's minutes came at the expense of struggling rookie Adam Morrison, who was held to three points in a season-low seven minutes and didn't play in the second half.

Herrmann had several backdoor layups and Wallace couldn't be stopped in the lane without getting fouled. Wallace hit 12 of 14 free throws. Full story

76ers 88, Celtics 82

PHILADELPHIA -- Kyle Korver scored 26 points, helping Philadelphia avoid a second-half collapse and beat Boston.

Korver made four 3-pointers, his final one snapping a 73-all tie with 5:06 left after the Celtics had rallied from a 15-point second-half deficit.

Andre Iguodala had 23 points and 12 assists, while Samuel Dalembert added 12 points and 13 rebounds for Philadelphia.

Al Jefferson scored 20 points for the Celtics, who played without leading scorer Paul Pierce (left elbow soreness). The Celtics (22-50) are 2-23 this season without Pierce, who earlier missed 24 games with a left foot stress reaction.

Heat 92, Timberwolves 77

MINNEAPOLIS -- Udonis Haslem had 19 points and 14 rebounds, and all five starters scored at least 15 points for Miami, who led from start to finish and beat Minnesota.

Shaquille O'Neal was relatively quiet with 15 points and nine rebounds, perhaps a bit worn out from moving more than usual on defense while Minnesota's Mark Blount -- who plays outside more than inside -- scored 18 points.

But Eddie Jones scored 18 points, James Posey added 16 and Jason Williams had 15 for the Heat, who are fighting for playoff positioning with a handful of teams in the Eastern Conference.

Kevin Garnett had 22 points and 20 rebounds for the Timberwolves (30-42), who went a miserable 2-for-18 from 3-point range and guaranteed they'll finish with a losing record for the second straight season. The Wolves were 1-for-10 behind the arc in the fourth quarter.

SuperSonics 120, Grizzlies 93

SEATTLE -- Memphis' only win streak of the season didn't last long.

Nick Collison scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, Rashard Lewis added 21 and comfortably sat on the bench in the fourth quarter of Seattle's rout of the Grizzlies.

Seattle raced to its third straight win, and snapped the Grizzlies' only win streak of their disappointing season. Memphis beat the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday and Portland on Thursday, the first time the Grizzlies won consecutive games - the last team in the league to do so.

So much for three straight.

Clippers 105, Kings 101

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Cuttino Mobley scored 26 points for rejuvenated Los Angeles, who beat Sacramento for their first victory at Arco Arena in 10 years.

It was an important victory in an unlikely place for the Clippers, who are fighting for a playoff berth in the Western Conference. They snapped a 17-game losing streak in Sacramento, dating to Nov. 7, 1997.

The eighth-place Clippers won for the fifth time in six games and moved a half-game behind seventh-place Denver, while increasing their lead to 1½ games over ninth-place Golden State.

Corey Maggette scored 19 points, while Jason Hart and Tim Thomas each had 16. Elton Brand had 12 points and Chris Kaman added 10 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
