Suns tab former player Humphries as assistant coach

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns hired former NBA guard Jay Humphries as an assistant coach on Monday.

Humphries, who played three of his 11 NBA seasons with Phoenix after being drafted by the Suns, spent the past five years coaching in South Korea. Before that, he coached in China.

He was Phoenix's first-round pick, the 11th choice overall, out of Colorado in 1984. Humphries also played for Milwaukee, Utah and Boston, averaging 11.1 points and 5.5 assists in 788 games.
