Heat finally waive goodbye to Smush Parker

MIAMI -- The Smush Parker saga in Miami is over.

Parker was waived by the Heat on Monday, nearly 3½ months after the team originally placed him on the inactive list after the guard got into an altercation with a female valet parking attendant.

Parker never played again for the Heat, and hasn't been with the team since late November. He appeared in only nine games, averaging 4.8 points.

Parker was making $2.2 million this season with Miami, which tried unsuccessfully to trade him for several weeks. He had a player option for $2.4 million next year, and it's likely that some of that will count against the Heat salary cap next season, even if Parker signs with another team.

In five NBA seasons with five different clubs, Parker has averaged 9.2 points in 255 games.
